NHL Stanley Cup Final - Blackhawks v Lightning spread, betting preview.
After the Hawks beat off the Ducks and Tampa Bay finishing the Rangers season these two teams come into this one after 7 game long conference finals. How will they match up in the post season? Playing different hockey, Chicago will have an edge in experience and Tampa Bay will have the speed. My issue with the Lightning is their defense. Ben Bishop let in 7 goals in game 6 and it's only going to get worse against a team that is no stranger to post season pressure..

Just like Tampa Bay and New York this series has gone back and forth without anyone really showing a clear edge. Both teams have scored 14 goals in the series each, both teams have won all their games straight after they lose. Following that pattern would suggest that the number 1 seeded Anaheim Ducks win tonight. But, I think neither of these teams are prepared to give an inch and this one could go either way. For that reason, I'd recommend getting behind the Blackhawks in this one just like it would've worked with Tampa last night. In a 50/50 game, take the team that pays more..

5/26/15 Game 6 Anaheim Ducks at Chicago Blackhawks prediction, preview and pick
The Chicago Blackhawks will host Anaheim in a must win game 6. Down 3-2 in the series Chicago find themselves in a back against the wall position and potential end to their post season. The Rangers showed us why they are a real contender for the Stanley Cup last night beating Tampa well on their own ice, but I'm not sure the Hawks can get the same job done. We've seen this series become one of the most competitive of all post season match ups and neither team has seemed to have the advantage for long. However, despite the 2 goals in the last 2 minutes that pushed game 5 into overtime, the Hawks look tired. At nice looking odds, I think the Ducks come out firing in this one and jump into the Stanley Cup final with a spring in their step...

The Rangers head to Tampa Bay to play a must win game 6 to keep their Stanley Cup campaign alive. Tampa Bay got the 3-2 series lead away from home sneaking 2 goals to none in a low scoring game in New York City. However, last time these two teams played in Tampa at Amelia Arena, New York obliterated the home team, scoring relentlessly to end it 5-1. You can't deny the talent of the New York Rangers and the difficulty of getting a puck past Hendrik Lundqvist. I like this Rangers team in a backs against the wall situation and give them the edge at good odds...

The first 4 games of this series has seen the puck in the back of the net 28 times in an offensive slaughter. Ben Bishop has been cold as ice (mind the pun) lately, letting 5 goals slip by him in 2 games consecutively. The over has won 3 times on the trot and when something is winning consistently, the key is to just jump on board and enjoy the ride. Even though these games have been high scoring the bookies are still reluctant to shift the total line. Both teams will be talking nothing but defense between games, but both teams have shown they're vulnerable to giving upwards of 6 goals in a game...

The games between these two have always been expected to include goals and a lot of them. Aside from a mediocre offensive showing which saw the Rangers win 2-1 in game 1. Game 2 and 3 had 8 and 11 goals respectively. The line is still sitting at over/under 5 goals and I think you'd be crazy to not continue riding that streak. Both teams are scoring regularly and a tight series always offers the chance of overtime or a sneaky open net goal.
PICK: Tampa Bay/NY Rangers OVER 5 @ 1.90(-110)

With the series tied 1-1 Anaheim are left with the task of stealing back an away win. The Ducks looked dominant in game 1 but struggled to get the job done in game 2 where they went 0/5 in their powerplay efforts. The Blackhawks are a monster at home and have been all season long but i'm still not convinced that they're a better team than the Ducks. For that reason I can't pick a winner in this game, but I see value in the game total. The Chicago defense is solid on the power play and the Ducks struggled to score at home. Additionally, Chicago scored twice in the first 7 minutes of the 1st period yet the total still didn't manage to go over the line. Tampa Bay bounced back to win away from home against the Rangers last night, but I'm not entirely sure the Blackhawks can do the same. No doubt you can expect the Hawks to come out firing to try and get the early lead and defend it, but the ducks have just been too good in all areas so far. Game 1 the Hawks fired a lot of shots, but not a lot of good ones. Anaheim contrasted that perfectly by scoring 4 of their 27 shots on goal. They are the top seed for a reason, their defense has contained the best of them, offensively they've scored more goals than any other team in the playoffs at 3.9 a game and to wrap it all up they have yet to lose any of their 6 home ice games this post season. The Stanley Cup continues tonight with Tampa Bay trying to level the series. The last time the Rangers hosted the Tampa Bay Lightning, most expected a high scoring affair given the offensive potency of both teams. That didn't turn out to be the case as the game finished 2-1 off the back of great defensive efforts and some shockers of missed chances.
So the bookies have dropped the Under/Over total by .5 and offered up a nice $2.40(+140) for the over. Last time out over 5.5 paid $1.87(-113) was the favoured of the two. Now you can grab that same original 5.5 line but the over is paying $3.35(+235). Same teams, same place, but the line of 5.5 has gone from 1.87 to 3.35 (-113 to +235). Crazy value in that stat alone. The last game had 54 total shots on goal, all but one of the penalties were killed, and on top there weren't all that many penalties to begin with. I can't see game 1 being an indicator that these teams aren't going to score regularly.

NHL Best Of The Day 5/16/15
Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Final starts in New York after the Rangers came back from 3-1 to end the Capitals season.
The Rangers start heavy favourites against Tampa Bay given the confidence they carry into this one and the advantage playing in the Garden boasts.
However, Tampa Bay have been solid all season long and come into this one with far more rest than the Rangers. Additionally, TB are 4-0 in the last 4 meetings and 4-1 in their last 5 road games. Getting $2.23 for a white hot, more rested team that has no problem traveling seems a gift.
The long 7 game series took its toll on the New York Rangers and will show tonight!
